Czech property tycoon Radim Passer has been officially reprimanded by the German Transport Ministry for a video he posted on his popular YouTube channel of himself driving a Bugatti Chiron at an indicated speed of 259 mph (417 km/h ) on the highway.

The point-of-view video which has racked up more than 4 million views was shot last July but released on January 9 and features an overlay displaying the speed of the vehicle as it speeds along the A2 motorway linking Berlin and Hanover, passing cars on its way.

Passer wore a racing suit, but no helmet, during the stunt, while his passenger wore only an open leather jacket and a t-shirt.

The $3million Chiron has an official top speed limit of 261mph, but some versions of the 1,500bhp supercar have been unlocked to reach over 300mph on closed test tracks.

The stretch of road Passer was on has no fixed speed limit, so it technically did not break any laws, but the department said in a statement on Wednesday that it “rejects any behavior in road traffic that leads or may lead to endangering road users”. .”
