Yurii Vitrenko, Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Joint Stock Company Naftogaz of Ukraine, said the company expects the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to be recognized by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Action for the climate as a threat to the security of the country’s natural gas supply.

He wrote about it on Facebook, reports the Ukrainian Press Agency.

“We support the decision of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action to withdraw the official conclusion that Nord Stream 2 does not affect the security of Germany’s natural gas supply. We hope that the Ministry of Economy will present a new conclusion, which will make it clear that Nord Stream 2 poses a threat to this security. This will serve as the basis for the regulator to refuse certification of this gas pipeline. Naftogaz has provided the relevant arguments to the German government” , wrote Vitrenko.

According to him, it is a demonstration that Germany is in solidarity with Ukraine, especially with the position on Nord Stream 2.

As the Ukrainian News Agency reported earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline will be stopped.

Ukraine counts on Lithuania’s support in energy security in the framework of the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Previously, Nord Stream 2 AG had established a subsidiary, Gas for Europe GmbH in Germany, necessary for the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

In mid-November, the company Nord Stream 2 AG, created by Gazprom (Russia), announced that Gazprom had started filling the second branch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline with natural gas.
